Day 9: "Ummm...."
Yesterday (late again, I know - I'm bad with writing at night) was a bit frustrating because my only goal was to find a new pair of jeans. It seemed to me to be a simple goal, but boy, was I wrong. If the store carried my size, they only had skinnies (which I'm not a big fan of). If they had boot-cut jeans, they only sold my size online. Boo. Needless to say, I didn't find any jeans. That's actually my biggest gripe about yesterday - my life is hard.

I was excited to get home and start cooking dinner, though, because it was chili night! I found a very highly reviewed recipe for turkey chili that was absolutely FABULOUS. It was much, much healthier than regular beef chili and tasted the exact same. I did manage to get it all over me while cooking, but hey, it happens. Besides, I think it's cute when Kev comes home and I'm in the kitchen, helplessly covered in my latest culinary creation. Plus, I got double girlfriend XP because I looked cute and the chili was yummy, so I'll take the W on that one, thanks.
After dinner, Kev had a meeting, so I ventured out in search of a book store. I think it's worth mentioning that I was asked to move Kev's car out of the way of my car all by myself. I was pretty thrilled with myself to have the chance to get in the driver's seat of his baby, but Jesus-tap-dancing-Christ, never again. It's far too pretty for my clumsy driving and I thought I was going to have a stroke the moment the engine roared to life.
With that five feet of joy riding under my belt, I was very relieved to arrive at the bookstore in my little, cheap car. It's rather shameful how happy just being in a bookstore makes me. I've always been an avid reader and the thrill of finding a new story to dive into is something I hope to never lose. I ended up with The Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky and Night by Ellie Wiesel. I've read Night several times, and thought it was a shame I didn't just own it. The Perks of Being a Wallflower is interesting so far. It's fairly light and easy reading, so it shouldn't take too long. Kev picked up Night and said he was interested. He couldn't possibly know how exciting it is to share such a passion of mine (history, that is - the Holocaust in particular) with him, even in such a passive way. I really hope he reads it.

Day 8: This Binary Universe

Today, I'm tired. So, this'll be quick. I met an adorable puppy at Aroma Cafe that made me miss my dear, sweet Mrs. PennyApple. Her name was Samantha, and yes, I did consider dog-napping her. (Did I actually just use "dog-napping" in a sentence? Wow.)
Breakfast was really nice because Aroma wasn't nearly as busy as it usually is, so I had my own little table on the sidewalk. Normally, I hate eating alone in public, but it was a bit gloomy outside and I was feeling contemplative, so it was nice to simply let my mind wonder while om noming on pancakes. After breakfast, I set out on a quest for an acceptable bathroom counter basket. It was more exciting than it sounds, I promise.
During my quest, I happened upon this adorable Good Luck Cat. Originally, I thought he'd go well on my car's dash, ya know, for good luck making illegal turns (as I do so often in this city), but decided as soon as I got him home that he'd be much better suited for hiding around Kevin's house. Little things make me happy. After Kev got home, we had a delicious dinner and watched/listened to some of BT's "This Binary Universe" - absolutely amazing.

Day 7: I gotz a jarb!!
(The drive home from dinner was beautiful, but sadly, this is the only picture I could get of it.)
Today, (well yesterday, really) I spent most of my day grocery shopping and picking up around the house. I found a few new recipes and I'm really excited to try them. I may not be very good at cooking, but I'm driven to get better.

In (a lot) less boring news, I GOT A BIG GIRL JOB!!!! Yaaaaaaaay!! I'm now the marketing assistant at deviantART. I am so excited to start there; everyone seems very sweet and I hope my nerdy humor will fit right in. It's so exciting, but I still can't believe I got a real job! Not a crappy hourly gig - a grown-up job. Weird. I mean, I still can't really believe that I'm not heading back to school in August. Oh life, you're going way too fast, but I'm too excited to see what's next to slow you down. Le sigh.
That exciting news was followed by a wonderful dinner with Kevin and friends I hadn't met before. They were beyond lovely and interesting, and I hope to see them again sometime soon. The night ended a bit weird, with a viewing of "Youth In Revolt" (it was okay), but today I'm feeling much better and ready to kick the world in the face. I'm not *quite* sure why the world deserves a kick in the face, but I'm in a kick first, ask questions later kind of mood. Sorry, world.

Day 6: "The Schindler's List of fairy tales"
Today, Kev and I met friends for brunch at the Getty - it was quite tasty, indeed. After brunch, we awkwardly navigated through the large crowds in the da Vinci exhibit and saw a few drawings. It was incredible to gaze at da Vinci's notes and scribbles. I wish I'd been allowed to take some pictures, but there were guards everywhere and I was in no mood to mess with anyone. Besides, it was nice to just float from room to room without worrying about lighting or angles.
Afterwards, we all met up outside and played a (not-so-friendly) game of Settlers of Catan. It's fun, but it brings the absolute WORST in people. I'm actually pretty good at it. I shouldn't be proud of that. (I am.)
Inspired by the art we'd seen, I convinced Kev to watch "Ever After" with me after we got home. I love it. Obviously, it wasn't really Kev's thing, but he was a trooper nonetheless. "Just breathe." <3

Day 4 and 5: I can feel it coming in the air tonight...
So, it's only day 5 and I'm already behind, so I'm posting two pictures. Yesterday, I didn't do much of consequence until I picked Kevin up from the airport last night. Yay! He's home! I was (finally) able to get some sleep.
Today, we ventured to a very scary supermarket. They actually sold pig's feet! Ugh. Instead of buying any food, we quietly slipped out and vowed never to enter that market again. After that, we happened upon a nice little Japanese restaurant and then met up with Ilya and Briana to see Get Him to The Greek. It was pretty damn funny.

After the movie, we ended our night by stopping by Menchie's for lots of yummy fro yo. Of course, Kev had to ruin my picture of it. Such a gentleman; I'm glad he's home. <3

P.S. Check out my new web address!! Kev bought it for me. Yaaaaay! I have more internet street cred! I'm so spoiled.

Day 3: May the way of the hero lead to the Triforce.
Today, I had my third interview for the Marketing Assistant position at deviant ART. I think it went really well - everyone I met was very sweet and I hope I get the job. The Marketing Director, Heidi, said I should know by next week, so fingers crossed!
Kevin sent me the most devastating video of an oil soaked bird he found on a beach in Louisiana this afternoon. I wish I'd gotten to go down there with him, I feel so helpless here.
I spent the rest of the evening applying for more PA gigs and playing Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past. The house feels empty without Kevin around. I've had a lot of fun playing "house" with him for the last couple of weeks.

Day 2: Hurry Curry and Hip Pain

Today I spent the day with Kristen and baby Vivienne. We had a blast catching up over lunch at Hurry Curry in Little Osaka and she showed me all sorts of wildly colorful stores there. I bought a cute Totoro coin purse for my car, a sweet pair of tabi socks (check 'em out!), and lots of Japanese candy! My inner Asian grows stronger every day.
My hips and lower back hurt all day, but it felt good to get out and get some fresh hair. I hope I feel better by Monday.
Kevin's still in Lousiana. Boo. I'm proud of him and all (really I am), but this bed is empty and my pride in him isn't clenching its teeth and making me feel safe.

Day 1: Lonely in Los Angeles
I've been inspired by a few really good blogs lately, namely Joelle's and Erin's, and with my moving to LA, I thought "What better way to chronicle the adventures I'm sure to have here than to take pictures and comment on them on a daily basis?" I'm quite sure that was 3 or 4 sentences that I slammed together, but oh well. It's May 1st. What better day to start than today?

Kevin's in Louisiana, reporting on the oil spill. So, I'm all alone in his big, scary, echo-y house and I miss him terribly. This bed just isn't the same when he's gone - even my dear sweet Fattius Snugglebuddum doesn't do the trick.
